THE PROJECT

STRATEGY

The idea was to keep as much as possible of the original character of the house. The existing perimeter walls are to be retained with a complete new layout internally whilst the roof will undergo a complete replacement with a new insulated energy-efficient structure.

LAYOUT

Internally, the house is spanned across two levels and organized around a spacious open living/cooking under an expansive origami timber roof.

In summer, the rear patio becomes part of the house with two large sets of sliding doors opening from either side (annexe and living room).

Existing house

ENERGY

The house benefits from natural cross ventilation which can be  supplemented by an AC system in the summer. For the winter months, a modern wood-burner is planned to ensure comfort.
